The Dangers of Manipulating Viral Marketing

Remember when we talked about how your marketing must be authentic? How, in this new marketing environment, deception is exposed and the word spreads swiftly? You don’t want to get caught even appearing to influence without being transparent about it. Case in point, take a look at this link, where a cruise ship company apparently tried to organized their viral marketing campaign. let me know what you think – post your comments!

    hmmm, it definitly is near the line. But after reading the article 3 times I haven’t decided if its “dirty marketing” or “too dirty marketing. But for sure it’s no honorable marketing. It has the ugly smell of corruption. And the bill is the infuriation of the loyal custumers.
    The question is what outweights more. The positive effect of the posters, or the negative effect of angered customers.
    I assume the posters are more successfull, unfortunately.
